Policy on material, traceability and certificates
Requirements for material identity and documentation.
This document is a translation. In case of differences in interpretation, the Swedish version applies.
1. Purpose
The purpose is to ensure that material sold or handled by Precisionstål can be identified and documented to the extent required by the customer order, material standard, supplier documentation or other agreed specification.
2. Basic principles
- purchased material shall be traceable to the relevant purchasing and delivery documentation;
- material identity shall be preserved during storage and internal handling to the extent required by order and product requirements;
- on cutting or division, the necessary identity shall be carried forward in a controlled manner where traceability is required;
- material certificates and test reports shall be checked against the order before being passed on to the customer where certificates form part of the delivery;
- documents shall be stored so that they are searchable and protected against unauthorised alteration;
- unclear material identity, a missing certificate or conflicting information shall be treated as a non-conformity until the matter has been investigated.
3. Material certificates
Where the customer has ordered a certificate, Precisionstål shall endeavour to deliver the correct type of certificate and ensure that the document’s material designation, dimension/batch/heat or other relevant identification matches the delivery. Precisionstål does not issue a manufacturer’s certificate in its own name where the company does not have the right and the supporting basis to do so.
4. Non-conforming material
Material suspected of being incorrect, mismarked, mixed or inadequately documented shall be identified and kept separate to the extent needed to prevent inadvertent delivery. Decisions on disposition shall be documented.
5. Suppliers
Suppliers shall, where required, be able to account for the origin of the material, the relevant certificates and traceability information. Where shortcomings recur, Precisionstål shall follow up with the supplier and, where necessary, take corrective commercial or quality-related action.
