This group is characterized by being hardenable by conventional heat treatment, up to 58-60 Hrc depending on the carbon content. The type is more to be regarded as corrosion resistant through its relationship between alloying elements. Martensitic steel is normally not weldable, and it normally has moderate corrosion resistance. We stock the following qualities.
EN 1.4021 (SS 2303-05) soft annealed steel 230-260 HB in round dimensions.
EN 1.4057 (SS 2321-03) soft annealed steel 270-315 HB in round dimensions.
EN 1.4112 soft annealed steel, hardenable to approx. 54-56 Hrc in round dimensions.
Additional grades are obtained on request from European manufacturers.
This steel group contains 12-30% Cr and a maximum of 0.1% C. It is not hardenable, it is magnetic and depending on the analysis, it is in some cases weldable. The steel has moderate corrosion resistance. In recent years, several new ferritic steels have been developed for special applications. These steels are obtained on request from European manufacturers.

This is the most common group of stainless steels. The structure is austenitic, making it non-magnetic and it cannot be hardened by heat treatment. However, strength can be increased by cold working. The group has a wide range of grades with increasing corrosion resistance with increased alloy content. The group is normally highly weldable. The group is used as a structural steel in various aggressive environments.
EN 1.4301 (SS 2333-02) Annealed steel with good corrosion resistance. Stocked in round and flat dimensions with a pickled or turned/sanded surface. Highly weldable.
EN 1.4305 (SS 2346-02) Annealed sulphur-alloyed steel, also known as stainless automatic steel, is characterized by good machinability during cutting operations and good corrosion resistance in less aggressive environments, but poor weldability. Stocked in round, square and hexagonal dimensions in turned or drawn finishes.
EN 1.4404 (SS 2348-02) Annealed acid-resistant steel with excellent weldability and very good corrosion resistance even in more severe environments. Stocked in round and flat dimensions with a pickled or turned/sanded surface.
Austenitic-ferritic steels have a mixed structure, duplex structure. They have good corrosion resistance to chloride-containing environments. The material is weldable and has good formability as well as significantly higher strength than the austenitic steels.
EN 1.4460 (SS 2324-02) Annealed acid-resistant steel, yield strength Rp 0.2 min 450 N/mm², tensile strength 600-800 mm². This steel is available in round dimensions with a turned or sanded surface.
EN 1.4462 (SS 2377-02) Annealed acid-resistant steel, yield strength Rp 0.2 min 450 N/mm², tensile strength 660-860 mm². This steel is available in round dimensions with a turned or sanded surface.
This type of steel is used for components that are to be nitrided, which provides high surface hardness and wear resistance as well as high temper resistance and resistance to scaling. The nitride layer improves corrosion resistance and resistance to adhesion. It is a quenched and tempered steel usually EN 1.8550 alloyed with aluminum which enhances the nitrided layer and provides hardness up to about 1100 Hv. The hardness of the base material is about 320 HB. This construction steel is stocked in round sections with unprocessed surface.
